The St Cloud Thunder are members of the new Tropical Elite Hockey League, a six team, Junior "A" league based in sunny Florida of the USA. Rival teams will be based in Daytona Beach, Clearwater, Oldsmar, Kissimmee and Palm Beach.Thunder players, plus families and friends who visit the area, should enjoy the team's nearness to Orlando and its theme parks, Disney World, Epcot and Universal Studios.
Home for the Thunder will be the 750 seat Ice Factory of Central Florida, situated on the border of sister cities, Kissimmee and St Cloud. At present, Thunder General Manager and Head Coach, Dennis Chighisola, is scouring the world for the best Junior hockey players he can find. (At this writing, it's likely that his roster will contain players from the US, Canada and Europe.)
Coach Chic promises to have better than a competitive squad, but he promises even more to help every single one of his players meet their academic and hockey goals.
Schooling will come first if you play for Coach Chic (or any other TEHL coach).
However, St Cloud Thunder hockey training will be very intense, with Coach Chighisola expecting that each player's game will advance quite a ways, with daily off-ice and on-ice training and at least two games per week over the long season.
